About CalcMaterials
Free, no-signup material calculators for DIYers and contractors.
CalcMaterials is a collection of free online calculators that help you figure out exactly how much material to buy for a project — before you place the order. Whether you're mulching a garden bed, pouring a gravel driveway, building a retaining wall, painting a room, or laying a deck, our tools turn your measurements into the quantity you'll actually order: cubic yards, tons, bags, gallons, blocks, boards, or rolls.
Why we built it
Ordering the wrong amount of material is expensive and frustrating. Order too little and you pay for a second delivery; order too much and you're stuck with leftovers. We built CalcMaterials so you can get a fast, realistic estimate — complete with a sensible waste allowance — in seconds, on any device, with no signup.
How our estimates work
Every calculator uses standard trade densities and coverage figures (for example, #57 gravel at about 1.4 tons per cubic yard, paint at about 350 sq ft per gallon). You can read the full math, reference tables, and worked examples right on each calculator page under "How the math works." We always recommend confirming densities, coverage, and span requirements with your local supplier or a licensed professional before ordering — see our Disclaimer.
How we keep it free
CalcMaterials is supported by advertising and by affiliate links to the materials and tools you might need. Affiliate links are clearly marked, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes the numbers our calculators produce.
